“It’s in the Cards” is a special project embarked on by our Presentation Committee members: Tanya Levy, Paula Nowak Droog and Michelle Greenwell. Together they combined their talents as a counsellor, retired educator, and dance and movement specialist with their training and skills with BioEnergetic Wellness tools. Co-creating the deck they combined their talents with Therapeutic Touch™, Touch for Health™, Brain Gym™, Eden Energy Method, Masgutova NeuroReflex Integration™(MNRI), Yoga, Tai Chi, and dance.

“The purpose of the deck is to provide a way for families, educators and individuals to learn about and use the valuable tools that are a part of BioEnergetic Wellness,” Michelle Greenwell shared in their recent webinar launching the cards. “We wanted a way to show people that the more you play with the tools, the more powerful the results and an ease and flow comes with their use.”

A public webinar was recorded for CanBeWell to share the background of the cards and the opportunities the cards create for engagement for focus, activity, joy, calm, emotional support, nurturing and resiliency throughout the day. You can find the recording on the CanBeWell YouTube channel.

The cards are based in Traditional Chinese Medicine theory for wellness using the 5 Element Wheel for creating nurturing and stabilizing patterns. These are known as “Shen” and “Ko”.
There are 6 sets of 5 Element Cards. They include: Animals and Actions, Sign Language, Neurovascular Holding Points, Action and Emotions, Nature and Movement. There are also Senses Cards that develop a sense of awareness through all the senses while engaging in special neurosensory activities.

In addition, the Compass Cards help to create a pathway for developing skills in goal setting, using intention and intuition, as well as creating a community of supporters to achieve intended outcomes and dreams. Color and Sound, two powerful ways to balance energy flow in the body, and used in Touch for Health balancing sessions, is also explored.

To create a way for learning the activities on the cards and engaging with them, there are two sets of 5 Element sets. Players can play several versions of a Memory game or act through Charades. These are suitable for preschoolers and older.

The special feature of the cards is the Formula series. In this section the opportunity to choose an outcome is identified, as well as the cards that can be used to bring flow and balance towards the goal. By creating special sequences, the player learns about the individual cards, but also their power in a combination.

For CanBeWell members this is an opportunity to provide homework or support to clients and students. By playing with the deck in classes and sending them home, there is a continuity to the self-care programs as well as the self-responsibility model that we endeavor to bring forward.

For families, students, individuals, enthusiasts, the tools are a fun way to get using the tools and to be motivated to play. Just cut the deck and follow the inspiration on the card. Choose a Formula card and create a sequence to learn and grow with. Or play with a nurturing cycle with one of the 5 Element sets.
